If your kids....

This is something that I just thought about and wanted to share. Before i start let me say that I am preaching to myself more than anyone.

How would you react to your children if they acted towards you and your wishes the way we act towards our Heavenly Father? I seen so many Christians that have the mentality of if I dont like it I dont have to do it or it doesnt apply to me. Why? God doesnt ask us if we like something...he TELLS us to do certain things. Not doing them is direct disobedience. If our children out right disobey simply because they dont like what they were told, we punish them. Yet we do the SAME thing to God all the time and wonder why He allows certain things to happen to us. If we went away for the day, and left a list of things for our kids. Things that needed to be done, or that we didnt want them to do, and we came back to only see certain things done, and them doing some of the things we asked them not to do, What would happen? Would we just let is slide when they said they just didnt feel like it or that they didnt feel that it was relevant. hardly. It makes me wonder why we expect our FATHER to let it slide.......

What I am thankful for.....

So today is Thanksgiving and every year I like to take a little time to reflect on all the blessings I have been given. God has done so much for me that it blows my mind. I dont deserve anything He's done for me but am so thankful for it. I think many times we get so caught up in our lives that we focus on the things that arent going our way and forget about the things we have. The Bible says for us to be thankful in ALL things, not just the things we are happy about. I will be the first one to admit that I suck at that one. I can be a real pessimist sometimes. its amazing how humbling it is to sit back and really count your blessings.
First and foremost, I am saved. That is the greatest blessing of all. On top of that, God has given me a wonderful husband, who puts up with me....and there are days that takes ALOT. I have two beautiful children, who drive me crazy some days but I wouldn't trade them for the world. I have a wonderful family and wonderful in-laws. We are all healthy, and happy. My husband knows he will have a job tomorrow, a security alot of people no longer have. We have a warm place to sleep, plenty of food to eat. No one is going hungry here anytime soon. We live in a country, that admittedly has its issues, but is still the greatest country on this earth. I could go on and on and on. What is boils down to is God is so much better to me than I deserve.

Just a little rant before I get in to what I really want to post.

I am going to post another blog momentarily but i wanted to get this out first. I know its seems like all I do is complain on here sometimes, but hey, its my outlet. so down to business.....

Ever get tired of helping people and getting bit in the butt for it? well I am. It seems like every time Josh and I try to help someone out, in almost any way, we end up getting the raw end of the deal or pulled into some drama that we have nothing to do with. Some of you know about the recent "I'm-cheating-on-my-husband-so-I'm gonna-kill-myself" psycho neighbor drama. Just another example of our trying to be there for people and it turning out bad. The most recent however, is a former friend of mine, who lives close to us. She came over a few months ago half hysterical begging my husband to come kick her back door in because her 2 year old had locked her out and the baby was on the floor crying. It was like 930pm. So Josh goes over there, before he does it asks her if she understands that they housing office may not be happy about this, and she gave him the go ahead. So he does it. He didn't destroy the door, just bent the lock. Well now 3 months later her husband (who works with mine) is going around work running his mouth about my husband talking about how he cost them $1400 for breaking the door. All Josh was trying to do was help a half hysterical mother and this dude wasnt even home at the time. I dont know what the deal is (i do know that the $1400 thing has to be BS because it wouldnt even come close to taking that much to fix that door). But I am soooo tired of this kind of thing happening. It really shouldnt surprise me though, this isnt the first time this particular couple has screwed us over, but it will certainly be the last. I'm done. josh is going to confront this guy as soon as he sees him next. any way, I dont want anyone to think that I think we should get pats on the back or a parade but not getting raked over the coals would be nice...now that thats out of my system.....

Gun Control

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote."-Benjamin Franklin, 1759
40 reasons to ban guns..... Flawed anti-gun liberal logic
1. Banning guns works, which is why New York, DC, & Chicago cops need guns.
2. Washington DC's low murder rate of 69 per 100,000 is due to strict gun control, and Indianapolis' high murder rate of 9 per 100,000 is due to the lack of gun control.
3. Statistics showing high murder rates justify gun control but statistics showing increasing murder rates after gun control are "just statistics."
4. The Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban, both of which went into effect in 1994 are responsible for the decrease in violent crime rates, which have been declining since 1991.
5. We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting spree at any time and anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a lunatic is paranoid.
6. The more helpless you are the safer you are from criminals.
7. An intruder will be incapacitated by tear gas or oven spray, but if shot with a .357 Magnum will get angry and kill you.
8. A woman raped and strangled is morally superior to a woman with a smoking gun and a dead rapist at her feet.
9. When confronted by violent criminals, you should "put up no defense - give them what they want, or run" (Handgun Control Inc. Chairman Pete Shields, Guns Don't Die - People Do, 1981, p. 125).
10. The New England Journal of Medicine is filled with expert advice about guns; just like Guns & Ammo has some excellent treatises on heart surgery.
11. One should consult an automotive engineer for safer seatbelts, a civil engineer for a better bridge, a surgeon for internal medicine, a computer programmer for hard drive problems, and Sarah Brady for firearms expertise.
12. The 2nd Amendment, ratified in 1787, refers to the National Guard, which was created 130 years later, in 1917.
13. The National Guard, federally funded, with bases on federal land, using federally-owned weapons, vehicles, buildings and uniforms, punishing trespassers under federal law, is a "state" militia.
14. These phrases: "right of the people peaceably to assemble," "right of the people to be secure in their homes," "enumerations herein of certain rights shall not be construed to disparage others retained by the people," and "The powers not delegated herein are reserved to the states respectively, and to the people" all refer to individuals, but "the right of the people to keep and bear arms" refers to the state.
15. "The Constitution is strong and will never change." But we should ban and seize all guns thereby violating the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Amendments to that Constitution.
16. Rifles and handguns aren't necessary to national defense! Of course, the army has hundreds of thousands of them.
17. Private citizens shouldn't have handguns, because they aren't "military weapons'', but private citizens shouldn't have "assault rifles'', because they are military weapons.
18. In spite of waiting periods, background checks, fingerprinting, government forms, etc., guns today are too readily available, which is responsible for recent school shootings. In the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's, anyone could buy guns at hardware stores, army surplus stores, gas stations, variety stores, Sears mail order, no waiting, no background check, no fingerprints, no government forms and there were no school shootings.
19. The NRA's attempt to run a "don't touch" campaign about kids handling guns is propaganda, but the anti-gun lobby's attempt to run a "don't touch" campaign is responsible social activity.
20. Guns are so complex that special training is necessary to use them properly, and so simple to use that they make murder easy.
21. A handgun, with up to 4 controls, is far too complex for the typical adult to learn to use, as opposed to an automobile that only has 20.
22. Women are just as intelligent and capable as men but a woman with a gun is "an accident waiting to happen" and gun makers' advertisements aimed at women are "preying on their fears."
23. Ordinary people in the presence of guns turn into slaughtering butchers but revert to normal when the weapon is removed.
24. Guns cause violence, which is why there are so many mass killings at gun shows.
25. A majority of the population supports gun control, just like a majority of the population supported owning slaves.
26. Any self-loading small arm can legitimately be considered to be a "weapon of mass destruction" or an "assault weapon."
27. Most people can't be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which most people will abide by because they can be trusted.
28. The right of Internet pornographers to exist cannot be questioned because it is constitutionally protected by the Bill of Rights, but the use of handguns for self defense is not really protected by the Bill of Rights.
29. Free speech entitles one to own newspapers, transmitters, computers, and typewriters, but self- defense only justifies bare hands.
30. The ACLU is good because it uncompromisingly defends certain parts of the Constitution, and the NRA is bad, because it defends other parts of the Constitution.
31. Charlton Heston, a movie actor as president of the NRA is a cheap lunatic who should be ignored, but Michael Douglas, a movie actor as a representative of Handgun Control, Inc. is an ambassador for peace who is entitled to an audience at the UN arms control summit.
32. Police operate with backup within groups, which is why they need larger capacity pistol magazines than do "civilians" who must face criminals alone and therefore need less ammunition.
33. We should ban "Saturday Night Specials" and other inexpensive guns because it's not fair that poor people have access to guns too.
34. Police officers have some special Jedi-like mastery over handguns that private citizens can never hope to obtain.
35. Private citizens don't need a gun for self- protection because the police are there to protect them even though the Supreme Court says the police are not responsible for their protection.
36. Citizens don't need to carry a gun for personal protection but police chiefs, who are desk-bound administrators who work in a building filled with cops, need a gun.
37. "Assault weapons" have no purpose other than to kill large numbers of people. The police need assault weapons. You do not.
38. When Microsoft pressures its distributors to give Microsoft preferential promotion, that's bad; but when the Federal government pressures cities to buy guns only from Smith & Wesson, that's good.
39. Trigger locks do not interfere with the ability to use a gun for defensive purposes, which is why you see police officers with one on their duty weapon.
40. Handgun Control, Inc., says they want to "keep guns out of the wrong hands." Guess what? You have the wrong hands. The loony left is trying to take away our 2nd Amendment Rights! If you agree with this, pass it on

A little confused IMO

saw a commercial earlier talking about the tobacco industry and how corrupted they are...and I'm sure you know the type I am talking about. It got me thinking.
Granted, I realized that Smoking is directly linked to several terminal diseases, BUT the smoker is very aware of this fact every time they put a cigarette in their mouth. They are choosing to put themselves at risk. I personally dont like smoking, I think its kind of nasty. I dont smoke and never will and I am not advocating smoking in any way. I guess what I am concerned about is why we are going after the tobacco industry and not the alcohol industry. Here are some FACTS:
~More than 100,000 U.S. deaths are caused by excessive alcohol consumption each year. Direct and indirect causes of death include drunk driving, cirrhosis of the liver, falls, cancer, and stroke.
~Traffic crashes are the greatest single cause of death for persons aged 6–33. About 45% of these fatalities are in alcohol-related crashes.4~Alcohol kills 6½ times more youth than all other illicit drugs combined.2
These are just a few. I could post page after page of statistics. Drunk drivers kill or seriously injure thousands of people every year. People on their way home from church, or a soccer game with their kids or even just a quick run to the store. They kill men, women, children, even unborn babies. All of which had no idea they were at risk, none of which ever guessed that day would be their last all due to someone's irresponsibility. Yet, All we do is post bill boards saying "dont drink and drive".
There are men (and some women) who go out and get drunk and come home and beat their children and spouses. People who when they arent drunk arent monsters, but turn in to one when alcohol becomes a factor. Yet, we do nothing and have commercial after commercial promoting beer, and liquor. We have entire establishments devoted to selling this drug.
There are people who have literally lost EVERYTHING, jobs, homes, families, because of this addiction and yet we continue to make it more and more accessible.
I have never heard of someone driving down the wrong side of the interstate is killing a family because they had one too many cigarettes.
I have never heard of some one going home and beating the snot out of their kids and spouse because they went out and smoke a couple cigarettes with the guys.
I have never heard of someone losing everything all because they couldnt break the nicotine addiction.
Yet society has gone on a mission to eliminate smoking but do nothing but a few PSA's on alcohol abuse and drunk driving. It seems to me that we have it backwards. I am not talking a Prohibition again. But what about not making it so accessible that teen age KIDS are drinking and end up dead or killing someone else because they were irresponsible? Why do we continue to be ok with innocent people being killed because someone else had no self control?
Like I said before, I am not advocating smoking in any way. And I know what it can do to a person..I have lost 2 family members to lung cancer and emphysema. But I have also lost several to alcohol and drunk driving. Isn't time we woke up to reality here?

This is me

Ne who...I decided that I need, well wanted to post something that allowed people to see me, and know where I stand and what i believe. This is me, and once again if you dont like it...tough.
1. I am a Blood bought, born again, God fearin', Bible Believin' Red neck Baptist!!! and I am Darn Proud of it!!!!
2. I am a Conservative Republican...while I dont agree with everything the Government or the President does, I do believe that we need to get back to the principles this country was founded on, the ones that men paid for with their blood and are still do so today, and stop worrying about being so durn PC.
3. I am NOT "Politically Correct" nor do I ever intend to be.
4. I am SOUTHERN~ I am NOT ignorant, I do NOT eat dirt, I am NOT racist, and I HAVE an education.
5, I am a redneck and proud of it ~ That doesnt mean I live in a trailer with the wheels still attached or that i dont have all my teeth, it dosent mean that I have ever slept with/kissed/ or been attracted to any of my cousins in any way. and All the cars in my yard run.
6. I believe some times the only way to peace is through war~ There is no reasoning with the unreasonable. Call me crazy but strapping explosives to your chest, walking into a crowed mall and blowing yourself along with everyone else up is a little on the unreasonable side of things, not to mention fly a passenger plane in to a building. Some how I just dont see how "diplomatic talks" would have stopped that.
7. I dont believe in gun control~ People seem to think if the laws are tougher then the criminals wont get guns...well I got news for you...if a criminal wants a gun some pesky law isnt going to stop them...HELLO!!! If they cared about laws they wouldnt be criminals. All Gun control does is take away the rights of upright citizens and leave them with no way to protect themselves from the lawless
8. I believe in living every moment likes it your last~ Life's too short for drama, there is nothing sweeter than hearing my little girl laugh or seeing her with her daddy, so I will do all i can to keep things that way.
9. I believe that 97% of the world has gone mad and am beginning to wonder about the last 3%.
10. I believe that if you walk out in front of my car after looking directly at me i should be able to hit you...just a little bump.
11. I believe that to be a good Christian woman dosent mean you have to wear dresses to your ankles, turtle neck, no make up, no jewelry and never gut your hair. what makes you a "good" christian is your relationship with the Lord, and thats all that matters.
12, I dont beileve that everyone should agree on every thing.
13. I Think after you reach a certain age, you need to be an adult and not revert to being 16 when someone offends you.
14. I beileve in hunting, and fishing~ In fact I LOVE deer meat....
15. I believe that teachers and public defenders, and the military men and women are extremely underpaid and that movie stars, ball players, and the rest of the multi million dollar Hollywood crowd are extremely OVERpaid.
16. I believe that nothing will ever change if good people sit idly by and wait for some one else to take a stand for them.
I am sure there are those out there who think me ignorant, or what have you, you go right a head, dosent bother me one bit. I am who I am, I love my husband and my kids, I love to laugh and have good time, I am proud of who I am that is because I have came along hard way to get to this point. I do my best not to judge other people before I know them. And I promise I am not as hard, callous, unfeeling, and serious as you may see me. This is just me.

Cafe mom

I have been a member of a forum called Cafemom for a good while. For a long time I really loved it but here recently I have become rather disenchanted with it. So I am leave for a while. While I was there I wrote several journals that I want to save so I will be posting them here on this blog...so if you have read them before...you know why.

What have I gotten myself into....

OK, so Josh has gotten in to working out and most recently running. Which I think is great, and quite honestly, I probably should be doing the same. Well, he has decided to run a half marathon...next year, after cruise. Seeing the opportunity for us to do something together, I opened my big mouth and said "hey we should run it together"......well....I cant even run half a mile with out wanting to barf...where did I get the notion that I will EVER be able to run 13.1? That's a LONG way. My husbands knew this...so he says..."Babe....are you sure you want to commit to something like that...its going to be a lot of work, Are you sure your up to it?"
Well...crap. Now I HAVE to...if for no other reason then to make him eat his words. I mean, I got a year....the one we want to do is in Nov...so I should be able to get myself at least in condition enough to where I wont die running the thing....i hope.....

Veterans Day

Today is Veterans Day. A few years ago this day was nothing more to me then good sales and a 4 day weekend. Now that my life is so intricately entwined with the military and I see first hand what these men and women go through, this day means so much more. Allot of people don't, and cant understand what our Troops face, and what their families deal with. Its easy to take for granted the sacrifices made on battlefields we have never seen. In a way, sometimes those war stories seem like just that...stories. But they aren't. They are real, with real names and faces. Real sacrifices, real patriotism. I get the privilege of loving one of those men. And yes its very much a privilege.
So today, take time to remember and pray for those special people. Whether or not you "support" this war, they are still making sacrifices, everyday, for your freedoms.

My Prayer....

Well election day is over and we all know the results. I'm not happy with the out come but I know God is still in control. I do believe that, now, more than ever we need to pray. We need to pray for Obama. He's going to be thrown in the middle of the worst financial crisis in 70 years, and 2 wars. Add to that the expectations on him as the first "Black" president and I dont doubt he's under tremendous pressure. I pray that he has ad visors that know Jesus, and will lead him in the right direction. I pray that maybe just maybe this wont be what I fear it will be. Even if it is, I still have read the end of the Book and I know that before everything is said and done, God will take care of us and call us home. I guess what worries and saddens me the most is the division this is causing. I am seeing Christians turn on each other, families turn on each other, and the divide widen. If any thing we need to dorw closer together and closer to the Lord, the only thing we have left to do is pray.

Blessed....

There is a little girl we know that is in the hospital fighting for her life right now. She contracted e-coli a few weeks ago and it took 3 visits to the ER and insurance confirmation for the Dr's to figure it out. Now she is dealing with kidney failure, has a feeding tube and swelling of the heart. Macy may not live to see her 4th birthday. When we got the update today, My dad suggested we stop what we were doing and pray for her. So as we were sitting in the living room praying I got to thinking about my life. I have two healthy children. There are days I take that for granted, more days than I really would care to admit. As of right now, I have never had to sit and wonder if my baby would make it through the night. Yes, they have been sick before and it worried me but never have they been on the brink of death. I got to thinking about this little girls parents and what they must be going through. I cant even begin to imagine the pain they are dealing with. My heart breaks for them. I thank God with everything I have that I havent had to sit and watch my baby suffer like that. I dont know what the future holds for us and there may come a day where I know that kind of pain...I pray not...but only God knows. But right now i feel so blessed. Sometimes it takes something tragic in our lives or the lives of other we know, for us to see just how blessed we really are. We take so many things for granted on a daily basis. God blesses us all daily and we tend to over look those things. I get sad because my husband is gone...when I should be thanking God for the man that i have. I should be thanking Him for giving me a husband that loves me with all his heart, a man that I never have to wonder about, a man that treats me like a queen even when i deserve anything but. God gave me a man that is willing to stand for something, willing to fight for what he believes in. Yet all I can do is dwell on the fact he has to leave sometimes. I should be thanking God for the time we have together instead of complaining about the time we spend apart. I could go on and on about the things I take for granted everyday. God has been so unbelievably good to me, there just are no words to describe it. But most of all he saved me, He sent His Son to die for me...that in and of itself is more than I ever deserved.
I'll stop now, but please keep Macy in your prayers and when you kiss your kids and your husband next time...remember what God has given you and thank Him.

Kids....

If you are military and have kids you probably know this, but have you ever noticed the change in your kids, even very young kids, when daddy's away? My husband left about 2 weeks ago...ever since then my 2 year old has been testing me. Doing things she normally doesnt do. Like drawing on her self...this is not normal for Abby. She knows better. This lovely pic of her "art work" was taken the day after he left. Whats even better is when I asked her if she was supposed to draw on herself her answer was "no mommy". i dont know what we are going to do when he leaves on cruise...Zanzax maybe....I realize they are young and dont know how to deal with daddy being here then daddy being gone very well...but its enough to drive mommy nuts.

Now we are in North Carolina. Dont get me wrong, I love being home but sometimes it just adds to the stress. Cuz not only is daddy away but we are not with Mawmaw and Pawpaw 24/7. So its extra hard on mommy to keep up discipline and routines. So far Abby has gone to bed at her normal bed time all of twice...in almost 2 weeks. Yay me! Any way...enough "complaining". Its kind of humorous in a way. For instance, I told her no the other day. And she was fine with it until mawmaw came in the room...it was like a light switch got flipped. we went from happy and ok to a meltdown in 2.4 seconds. i just sat there and laughed because it was honestly funny...it was sooooo obvious. Zach has been doing well. We are in the process of weaning...he like to bite...so in order to save myself an unbelievable amount of pain...we're weaning. He's funny because when he's done with his bottle he throws it. I dont mean just lets go and it drops, I mean this kid chunks the thing as far as possible. He has a surprisingly strong arm for 6 mo.

I bought him his first car yesterday. i had to get something to keep him in one place for more than 2 seconds...he is into EVERYTHING since he became mobile...although he's not a fan of "driving" for long..it works for at least a little while. He still would rather "roam"...why my kid decided to start crawling at 4 months we my never know. All I can say is its because he wants to keep up with his sister. I can tell he misses his daddy too. He is a serious daddy's boy. Any time Josh walks in a room he will break his neck to see him. And heaven forbid Josh doesnt speak to him when he comes in. I think its sweet though, but you can tell that he misses his daddy. I think we will all be much happier when Josh gets home. Ok enough of my ramblings for now.....

Not very happy....

For months we have been planning on Josh taking leave the middle of October. We have made plans to see family. His parents are even coming in. His LPO had told him to wait until they were on the boat to rout his request and it would get approved...so thats what Josh did (he tried to route it in august). So now they arent going to let him. The master chief said no one is getting to take leave until the holiday POM period. this sooo majorly sucks. It completely screws up everything. Josh needs to go see his grandad. josh hasnt seen him in a long time and he is not doing well. Not to mention they havent seen Zach. This just messes up so much. I mean I know I should expect as much but it still doesnt make it any easier to take. On top of all that Josh has been looking forward to coming home and being able to go hunting. Now, I dont know what we are going to do. .....

The dr appt.

So for the last couple days Zach has had a runny nose. Well yesterday he started girgling and wheezing so I decided to take him to the dr. I dont normally go running the dr everythime one of my kids sneezes but I surely didnt want to risk pneumonia in my infant. So we went today. I really like the dr. She was really good with him and very attentive. Turns out he has a cold and allergies on top of the cold. Plus teeth coming in...all that adds up to a snotty droolly baby. All in all he fine, we got a decongestant to help dry him up so in a few days he should be good as gold.

Dets suck

One would think that after 4+ years of the Navy and extended separations that I would have gotten used to this by now....well...one would be wrong. I still hate it when he has to leave. Now I realize that its part of the life, a life I willingly and knowingly signed on for...but it still sucks. Granted, he's only been gone for a week, a relatively short period of time on the military separation time scale but I still miss him and the kids miss him. Thankfully he's only going to be gone a few more weeks...anyone got a FF button?

Ok..so now I'm a blogger

Well, all my friends have a blog so I thought why the heck not...now here I am. We'll see how this goes. I know there will be days i have tons to write about and days I have little to say but so's life. In comparison to others my life probably isn't very exciting...unless you call the everyday misadventures of a toddler and infant exciting...then its a friggin thrill ride. I guess this is really more for me than anyone else...sorry. I think there are times we all just need an outlet so i guess this one is going to be mine.
